Foti International Fireworks has won First Prize at the Decazeville
International Fireworks Competition in Decazeville, France. The August 1st win was capped off with
the 30,000 strong audience also awarding Foti the Peoples Choice Award, making the display a pyrotechnic
winning double.
The event included five displays designed by teams from Australia, South Korea, South Africa, Brasil and France,
with each display being presented on the same night. It was held at a former open cut mine in the town of
Decazeville, providing an ideal and intimate display setting.
The competition was unique by international firework competition standards in that the rules required
that all the companies design their shows using the same product, all prepared in France. The only
difference between the companies was their pyromusical soundtracks and how they used the fireworks.
The award winning soundtrack was produced by Tino Foti, making the competiton win a family effort.
"Because we manufacture most of our own product, it was a challenge designing a show using
someone elses fireworks", said Fortunato Foti.
"This is why we participated. It was great to represent Australia, and we're rapt with the
result."
The wins confirm Creative Director Fortunato Foti's status as not only Australia's premier
pyrotechnic display designer, but also one of the world's best.
